The Universal Plane Table Tacheometer is used for polar surveys supplementing photogrammetric surveys and for the preparation of planning documents for road construction. It is a combination of a round plane table (diameter 35 cm) on vertical double center system connected by a semicircualar shaped bracket to support a sighting telescope with spirit level and with vertical circle or any other available suveying instrument. The round plane table serves at the same time as horizontal circle (vernier reading 2c). At choice two different sighting telescopes with vertical circle are available: The autoreduction telescope of the MEDIA and the standard telescope of the MEJUN alidade.
